Chad Tieger, Doctoral School Psychology Intern

Chad Tieger is a second-year doctoral student at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology, also from Rutgers University, and has worked with a variety of populations across many psychological settings. Chad has worked with in-patient and acute psychological services for University Behavioral Health Care, has served as a Mental Health Specialist in the school-based behavioral program in the Carteret school district, and held a counseling and Youth Development Coordinator position for South Brunswick Township High School. In addition to interning at Navesink Psychological Services, Chad currently shadows a school psychologist at Lawrence High School where he conducts psychoeducational evaluations as well as individual and small group counseling.

Chad’s professional interests include family therapy, neuropsychological processes and systems work. He is currently involved in a research lab that focuses on improving the implementation of restorative justice practices in schools. In his free time, Chad enjoys listening to music, traveling and reading. As an avid drummer/percussionist, he plays in a cover band throughout Middlesex and Monmouth Counties and teaches drums privately to students of all ages. Chad looks forward to using his clinical, school-based and teaching experience to collaborate with families and other helping professionals and facilitate positive growth for his clients.

Grace McElderry, Undergraduate Intern

Grace McElderry brings a well-rounded background in psychology, education, and caregiving to her work with children, families, and students. A junior majoring in psychology with a minor in linguistics and education at Rutgers University, Grace has cultivated a strong academic foundation, complementing her hands-on experience in teaching and mentoring.

Grace has worked extensively as a nanny and teacher’s aide, demonstrating her ability to provide nurturing care and developmental support to children of varying ages. She has also served as a medical licensing assistant, where she further strengthened her interpersonal and organizational skills, as she managed confidential data and ensured compliance with regulatory requirements.

Her leadership roles, including President of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, highlight her ability to foster inclusive communities, manage events, and promote collaborative work and organizational engagement. Additionally, Grace’s volunteer work as a Teen VIP at St. Barnabas Medical Center showcases her commitment to supporting pediatric health and well-being.

With a passion for psychology, education, and clinical services, Grace is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those she serves. Her skills in communication, organization, emotional intelligence, and time management make her a valued team member at Navesink Psychological Services.

Keya Patel, Undergraduate Intern

Keya Patel is a dedicated undergraduate psychology student at Rutgers University, with hands-on experience as a Behavior Technician. Keya has worked extensively with children on the autism spectrum, fostering positive behavioral changes and cultivating trusting relationships with families.

She has further honed her organizational and interpersonal skills as a Social Work Assistant at a medical adult daycare, and as an Office Assistant in the Rutgers Psychology Department, where she contributed to maintaining efficient operations and cultivating a welcoming environment.

Fluent in English, Gujarati, and Hindi, Keya is an adaptable and creative thinker with a passion for reading, dancing, and hiking. She strives to blend her academic knowledge and practical experience to make meaningful contributions in the field of psychology.
